In New World, the Furnishing crafting profession offers the ability to craft furniture, trophies and storage chests. While the furniture is purely cosmetic, trophies and storage chests will improve your gameplay. Trophies can provide world buffs and crafting buffs, while the storage chests increase storage capacity in the town.
The leveling guide has been designed to utilize the lowest level items possible. In many cases it is possible to substitute lower-level resources with higher quality ones but this will not increase the experience gained from crafting.
The leveling guide has been built assuming you will gather all the raw resources yourself, however you’re free to purchase refined materials from the Trading Post to speed up your leveling experience. Just be aware that if you purchase refined materials at lower levels, but choose to gather higher level raw resources, you may not have the required refining profession skill. For example, if you buy all your Iron Ingot and Steel Ingot, you may not have the required smelting skill if you decide to gather Starmetal Ore for smelting into Starmetal Ingot.
The way you choose to level Furnishing will largely depend on:
- Your preference for gathering
- Which resources are readily available on your server/town Trading Post
- Town crafting station upgrades
- Scarcity of the items you choose to craft and ultimately sell on the Trading Post
The leveling guide will be split into four sections to simplify gathering materials. It will involve leveling 0-50, 50-100, 100-150, and 150-200. It is best to gather materials for each of the sections separately – you are unlikely to be able to store the resources you need for the 0-200 leveling process in one location anyway.
Importantly, you need to make sure the town you are in has the appropriate upgrades for the crafting stations you will need to use. This may mean you need to move to other towns to refine material or to craft Furnishing items. It is also useful to pick a location where the town taxes on crafting are low so that you don’t deplete your gold pile unnecessarily.
